Southern Trinity Area Rescue (STAR) is a volunteer division of Southern Trinity Health Services. We are actively seeking volunteers for our program currently. If you are interested, please send an email to our EMS Manager The history of STAR goes back to the foundation of the organization. STAR is staffed 365 days a year with a dedicated group of caring community minded individuals. STAR ambulance and emergency personnel cover the southern third of Trinity County and far eastern portion of Humboldt County encompassing over 1250 sq. miles.

The area is covered by two ambulances one located in Ruth, and one located in Mad River and is staffed by EMT-I and Paramedic level emergency personnel. In addition to their emergency certification, each responder receives additional training in extrication, water rescue, emergency vehicle operator (EVO course) and helicopter safety. STAR is sanctioned by Norcal Emergency Medical Services and the California State Emergency Medical Services Authority.

To our delight, STAR now has two full-time EMTs for weekend coverage, thanks to the donations from Measure Z and the Ruth Lake Community Services District. This is the second year that Measure Z of Humboldt County has contributed this vitals funds to STAR. Without these funds, STAR would rely solely on the volunteers of this community.
